'That which is above is the same as that which is below.....Macrocosmos is the same as microcosmos. the universe is the same as man, man is the same as the cell, the cell is the same as... and so on, ad infinitum'.
The connection between moon and tides is well known. In the 'Luna' series each image takes its name from a named moon. High in contrast and detail these swirling forms hint at gravity pulling at the earths surface, whilst perhaps upon closer inspection mirroring the infinite cosmos. Silver explosions emerge from the dark void examining the boundary between real and pictoral space, solid matter and light, 'the full' and the void'. The astronomical connection removes the viewer from the earthly origin of the work towards a different perception of space and time , that of the photgraph.
